Helping Our Community

In Response to COVID-19, Joy Ministries has been working to meet the immediate needs of children and families living in HUD and low income communities in:

Portsmouth · Virginia Beach Chesapeake · Norfolk

Food Insecurity

We are delivering lunches and groceries to families in low income communities. We are meeting the needs of children facing food insecurity, that depended on the free lunches that the school system provided.

Mental Health & Emotional Well-Being

Needs are being met through weekly lifeline phone calls made by our mentoring staff to families and children living in our low income neighborhoods. Joy Ministries is networking to ensure that the needs are met in the best possible way.

Household Needs

We are providing “Blessing Boxes” to families in need. “Blessing Boxes” include toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer and cleaning products that are scarce during this time.

Looking Forward, Planning Ahead

In the summer months, Joy Ministries will be providing reaching enrichment and educational assistance to at-risk children who have fallen.
